You need to have a Pennswoods.net or Onewoods.net email address, or an email address which is serviced by Pennswoods.net (Bedford.net, Losch.net, etc).
You need to use the full email address (username@onewoods.net, as opposed to just username, which doesn't work).
Also be aware that it is onewoods.net, NOT oneSwoods.net, which is a common typographical error.
Replies to your ad go to the email address you signed in with. For most people this is going to be an @onewoods.net address. That mail can be checked here: http://webmail.onewoods.net.
When you reply to an ad, the email is sent from the address you are logged in with. For most people this is going to be an @onewoods.net account. You'll need to check that address to find replies. That mail can be checked here: http://webmail.onewoods.net.
You are welcome to move email traffic to any address you like, at any time you like. However at this time there is no way to have messages sent from the classifieds go directly to a yahoo, hotmail, etc account. By having the private messaging / email system start off in a controlled environment, we've effectively eliminated the scamming and spamming that was previously common. By limiting the personnel resources needed to track down abusers of the system, we are able to continue to offer this as a free service to the community.
As of this writing, ads are left in place for 14 days, or until the owner deletes it. If ads are removed earlier, it was because they violated one or more of the guidelines.
We have a number of people that have asked if they can get onewoods.net accounts for family members who don't use the classifieds. We only permit one @onewoods.net account per off site email address. For example someone@verizon.net can only sign up one @onewoods.net account. However you can sign up @onewoods.net accounts even if you do not intend to use the classifieds. The onewoods.net address receive virus and spam filtering.
The following domains are known to filter the verification emails: csonline.net, excite.com, myway.com. Additionally it is possible that other domains will filter these out. You may need to create an allowance for support@pennswoods.net in your white list, address book, or ask your provider not to filter those emails. Alternatively use a domain that does not filter out the verification emails.
Just close your browser windows. The cookies that allow you to be logged in do not persist, and you will be logged out.
Free accounts have access to http://webmail.onewoods.net. Access with Outlook Express, Incredimail, etc is available to paid account holders.
UPDATE April 28, 2008. This second login problem should be mostly resolved now. If you log into the classifieds, and click the "check email" link, it should just take you right to your classifieds messages without logging in again. Please contact us if you find this not to be the case.
When responding to an ad, there is a checkbox to send a copy to yourself.
The first thing to check is the size of the image. The largest image you can use is approximately 750 kb. The name of the picture must end in jpg, jpeg, gif, or png.
All users of the Pennswoods.net classifieds need to be wary of potential scams. Our free classified ads system is open to everyone, not just pennswoods.net customers, and thus there is the possibility of scammers lurking about, looking for potential victims. We've made every effort to prevent scam artists. However there you use the classified ads at your own risk.
One of the most common scams to watch out for, involves exotic pets from overseas. The best piece of advice we can give, is for users to avoid any transactions, or at least be extremely skeptical, when dealing with people claiming to be in a foreign country. Keep in mind that the Pennswoods.net Free Classifieds are based in Pennsylvania, and we mainly serve PA, MD, VA, WV, NY, and the US Virgin Islands. While our classified ads are open to the public and not just Pennswoods.net customers, you have to question the motives of anyone posting to our classifiieds that do not reside in our general coverage area, especially from a foreign country. Be especially wary of *ANY* ad trying to sell Yorkie dogs, exotic birds (especially "Macaws"), and monkeys of any kind (especially "Maruchin"). If it sounds too good to be true, it probably is.
Another type of scam to watch out for is the "Counterfeit Cashier's Check Scam. This scam usually involves a buyer sending a seller a cashier's check for more than the amount of the item being sold, with the buyer stating various reasons why it needs to be done this way, then they also request a personal check back for the difference (or they request it be wired back). The cashier's check they send will turn out to be bogus, with the seller finding this out too late, by which time the seller then has to pay back the money to the bank, in addition to also losing the money returned to the scammer. Overseas money orders and checks sometimes take months to truly clear.

When you've posted one or more ads, and when you are signed into the classifieds, you can pull up the category your ad is in. After the subject will
be something that looks like this: (4 responses). That is the number of times someone has email you through the classifieds throughout the life of the ad.
If you've read 3 emails, and now it shows 4 responses, there should be another waiting for you. No one except pennswoods.net employees and the person who placed the ad can see this information. This is different from the number of times an ad has been viewed, which everyone can see.
Please note that we cannot tell how many people have called a number listed in the ad, nor can we know if someone has sent email to an email address listed in the ad. This counter only counts emails sent through the pennswoods.net classifieds.
On April 28, 2008 we updated the code to limit the number of ads to 4 per category, 16 total to prevent over posting. This is in keeping with our posted requirements of no more than 4 ads per category. The difference is now the software enforces the limit fairly for everyone, and our personnel will delete fewer ads.
Most people stayed within these limits anyway. If this has affected you, delete an ad or two, or wait for them to expire, before posting new ads.
Customers with paid accounts can post 6 ads per category, 30 total in all combined categories.
When an ad is flagged for a possible violation of the guidelines, it is marked for review by one of our technicians. If enough people flag it, it will be deleted before being reviewed. It is possible, but unlikely, that the ad will be re-instated once reviewed.
You can flag an ad without being logged in, but the ad gets scored more aggressively if you are logged in.
We really don't know. Can you? We cover quite a few states now, and there is a virtual horde of government agencies with laws and regulations to comply with. Monk parrakeets are outlawed in Pennsylvania, and the PA Game Commission will euthanize them if you are caught with them. At least this is what we read online. In Ohio it is perfectly legal to own them, provided that the wings are clipped.
We are not responsible for the ads posted to Pennswoods.net classifieds. YOU are responsible for knowing the law.
If a law enforcement agent provides us with a subpeona, we are compelled by law to respond to it. Every day we see something in excess of 100,000 ads being viewed, some of them from .net, .com, .gov, .mil, and other domains. Please know the law and comply with it.
